Dangers of a High-Salt Diet
A high-salt diet is a hidden health killer. Long-term excessive intake can lead to multiple harms: It absorbs water like a sponge, increasing blood volume, raising blood pressure, and putting more strain on the heart. Sodium ions also silently corrode the vascular endothelium, accelerating the process of atherosclerosis. Studies show that when daily salt intake exceeds 5 grams, the risk of stroke increases by 23%, and the incidence of stomach cancer increases by 15%. More insidiously, high salt will hijack your taste buds, leading people into a vicious cycle of "the more you eat, the saltier it tastes."
